We provide two types of hypnotherapy training (sometimes referred to as 'hypnosis training'):

1. 20 day accredited diploma - taking students with no prior knowledge through to being a qualified hypnotherapist capable of working with the public. This is a combined hypnotherapy and NLP course with Open University credits.

2. Fast track 6 day accredited diploma - hypnotherapy training for established psychotherapists, counsellors, psychologists, etc. who wish to dovetail it with their current work or provide hypnotherapy in its own right.

The 20 day hypnotherapy course information follows:

The 20 day course is a combined clinical and medical hypnotherapy course, and NLP course (neuro-linguistic programming), delivered in a relaxed and supportive atmosphere. We incorporate insights from an eclectic mixture of other therapies and approaches, especially NLP, and also coaching, psychotherapy and counselling to give you a 'tool kit' of techniques for bringing about effective, lasting change in your clients.

This is a very practical hypnotherapy course with an emphasis on being able to do hypnotherapy. Groups are small, maximum 12 students, and there are two experienced trainers, ensuring you have lots of individual attention.

Paul Peace is a Chartered Psychologist, hypnotherapist and EMDR therapist. Karen Bartle is a graduate psychologist and hypnotherapist. Both are accredited hypnotherapy supervisors.

The course is accredited by the General Hypnotherapy Standards Council who run the UK's largest hypnotherapy register (the 'General Hypnotherapy Register') which has over 8,000 members. It is also accredited by the National Council for Hypnotherapy/NCFE, who externally validate our Hypnotherapy Practitioner Diploma, and the National Council of Psychotherapists, one of the longest established societies in the UK. You will gain 45 credits (Undergraduate Level 1) towards an Open University degree should you wish to further your studies. Further information is available in the prospectus.

Whether you intend to train to become a hypnotherapist or add hypnosis and NLP to your existing skill set, you will find our combined hypnotherapy course and NLP course enjoyable and enlightening. The course assumes no prior knowledge and gives you everything you need to function as a competent, ethical and successful hypnotherapist.

The economic downturn hasn't been a cause for concern for the hypnotherapists we speak to and our hypnotherapy practice is busier than ever. Uncertainty over jobs means more stress, depression and comfort eating. The credit crunch means a greater desire to give up expensive habits such as smoking and gambling. As workforces are cut back, people need to apply for new jobs or reapply for existing jobs and this brings with it worries about interview nerves. Some students are using redundancy money to fund hypnotherapy training so that they can control their own destiny.

Our course is unique in that it provides a pleasantly speedy route to qualification, whilst leaving time to practice and complete homework.

Attendance is 3 days a month for just over 6 months. This structure, we believe, is unique to our course.

Many accredited hypnotherapy courses in the UK are 10 months in duration (10 weekends). This suits some people but for others it can drag on, especially if you are keen to get practising. Yet a training that is shorter than 6 months generally means not enough time to practice and the need for blocks of annual leave off work. We believe our 6 month, 3 days a month course is the perfect balance and the feedback we receive is testament to this!

7-11 hours per week study is recommended, depending on how fast you read and your motivation to spend quality time with your homework.

Our previous students have really enjoyed this structure and regularly comment how quickly each day and weekend passes. We have a lot fun and conduct lots of practicals. We train on Sat, Sun and Mon once a month. These 3 day blocks give you opportunity to really get into the hypnotherapy and build your confidence under supervision. Students routinely notice real improvements after each module.

Our course is most suited to people who can make a Monday free each month (6 Mondays in total - although some might fall on Bank Holidays, reducing annual leave), who find it reasonably easy to motivate themselves, who are seeking a high quality accredited course, highly qualified and skilled trainers, and those who are keen to get into practice.

Video training materials are provided in addition to a 650 page easy-read manual containing hypnotherapy scripts, NLP patterns, client handouts, an assessment form, sample contract and many other useful materials.

We provide four qualifications in one combined course: Diploma in Hypnotherapy, the externally accredited Hypnotherapy Practitioner Diploma, Diploma in NLP and, uniquely in the UK, a Certificate in Discursive Empowerment™ (see prospectus for details).

NLP is often taught as 'NLP Practitioner' and 'NLP Master Practitioner' courses. Our Diploma in NLP teaches the most useful techniques, as they relate to being a hypnotherapist.

The Hypnotherapy Practitioner Diploma is written by the National Council for Hypnotherapy and is accredited and externally verified by NCFE, a government-recognised national awarding body.

Aftercare: we encourage all of our students to keep in touch after the course. You can do this informally, or formally by taking up supervision with Paul or Karen who are Accredited Hypnotherapy Supervisors with, variously, the National Council for Hypnotherapy, General Hypnotherapy Register and National Council of Psychotherapists. We hold monthly supervision groups that everyone is invited to join after qualifying to keep in touch, share experiences, help each other with ideas for helping clients, etc.

We're a modern training school making good use of technology and doing our bit for the environment. For example, homework is completed in a single electronic word processing file that is passed back and forth between student and tutor for feedback, saving paper and providing fast feedback (typically, it is returned to you within 1-3 days - many tutors expect you to wait a week or more for feedback). We also provide feedback on individual homework questions rather than generic feedback.

You will receive video learning materials so that you can view demonstrations of many hypnotherapy techniques at home. These learning materials support and extend training centre learning. You will effectively have a library of materials to support you long after qualification.

We have attracted students, male and female, from a very wide variety of backgrounds: clinical nurse specialist with NHS funding, plasterer, psychotherapist, counsellor, accountant, dietician, admin manager, marketing and salespeople, personal trainer, life coach, warehouse operative, executive recruitment manager, support worker, complimentary therapists, unemployed and redundant, IT consultant, web designer, teacher, customer service advisor, and broadcasting producer, for example. Ages have ranged from 22 to 69 years. We have also taught someone who was expecting a baby half way through the course. She still attended every module and used hypnotic techniques to help her relax during giving birth! If you really want to do something you find a way to make it happen!
