Hypnotherapy Supervision
About
supervision
Supervision
is a confidential working relationship between supervisor and supervisee
that facilitates the exploration of the supervisee's therapeutic practice.
In a supportive environment, the supervisee can explore client work undertaken,
ethical issues, changes in direction, further hypnotherapy training requirements,
the relationship between theory and practice, practice management issues,
emotional and motivational issues, and any number of other problems and
goals that arise in the course of working as a therapist.
About
Paul Peace
I am a Charted
Psychologist, hypnotherapist (senior clinician Reg. NCH), qualified hypnotherapy
supervisor (AccHypSup) accredited by the NCH, NCP and GHR), EMDR practitioner,
NLP Master Practitioner and psychotherapist. Within the bounds of professional
needs and ethics I am dedicated to helping supervisees achieve anything
they want to achieve. I don't believe there is such a thing as a perfect
therapist and I work from a presupposition that everyone is doing the
best they can with the skills, motivation, etc that they have available
to them at a given time. I welcome people of all backgrounds and axes
of difference including age, gender, sexuality, non/religious beliefs,
ethnicity, etc.

Frequency
and duration
I am happy
to provide any frequency of supervision provided it satisfies the minimum
requirements of your most stringent professional body, and provided it
is not less frequent than once every 6 weeks. Typically, supervision is
monthly or 6-weekly. It will normally be one hour in duration but may
be contracted for longer if desirable or necessary. Group supervision
varies between 1 and 2 hours, depending on group size.
Normally,
the frequency with which you see clients also dictates the frequency of
supervision required. In the early days of practice there can be understandable
concern about the cost of supervision versus relatively low client numbers.
However, it is in these early days of practice that supervision is vital.
Even a couple of clients a month can create ethical dilemmas or stuck
problems, etc. Group supervision provides a cost-effective option.
Of course,
no matter how many clients you see, supervision is required for professional
membership. As well, professional bodies require that supervision be 'privileged',
that is, it must not be deliberately put off or cancelled here and there
to prolong the intervals in between.
Free
consultation
Anyone who
has not yet met me is welcome to book an appointment to observe a group
supervision session. Of course, confidentiality must be maintained by
attendees. This will provide opportunity to meet me and other superviees
and help you decide whether you would prefer individual or group supervision.
Alternatively, we can have a chat about your requirements on the telephone.
